Bay Area Mattress Removal. Same-Day Mattress Pickup.
The old mattress leaning in the hallway, the box spring in the garage, the bed frame that won’t fit the new place. A mattress is heavy, bends the wrong way and has nothing to grab onto, which makes it a hard two-person carry. Our mattress removal crew takes it from the bedroom for you, and clean, dry mattresses go to recycling instead of the landfill. Same-day and next-day pickups go out to the East Bay, the Tri-Valley, the Peninsula, the South Bay and beyond.

Nothing for you to lift
Why it’s us
We take the stairs. You keep your evening.

We’re a family owned and operated crew, and mattress pickup and removal is one of the most common jobs we do. Steering a queen around a landing or a king down a narrow staircase is nobody’s idea of a good afternoon, and for us it’s routine. Mattress disposal, box spring removal and the bed frame that comes with them are everyday work. Because we price by space in the truck, the walk down from a second-floor bedroom never adds to your bill.
- Licensed and insured on every mattress pickup
- Same-day pickups whenever we can fit you in
- Carried out of the bedroom, not just the curb
- Mattress, box spring and frame in one trip
- Clean, dry mattresses go to recycling
Pricing, made simple
Priced by space, never by the stairs.
Mattress removal is priced by how much room your mattresses take up in our truck, not by how long it takes to carry them out. A king from a third-floor bedroom costs the same to haul as a king from the garage. The stairs are on us.
A single mattress has its own rate, so it’s never priced like a full load. Your quote is free, online or over the phone. Tell us the size and what’s coming with it, and the crew confirms the exact price once they’ve seen it, before anything is lifted.
One mattress
A single mattress, or a mattress and box spring together. Even one is a two-person carry, so it's a real job here with its own rate, and we're happy to come out for it.
A full bed set
Mattress, box spring, frame and headboard. We take the frame apart if it needs it and carry the whole set out together.
A few mattresses
The guest room, the kids' rooms and the spare in the garage, all picked up in one trip instead of a weekend of hauling them one by one.
A whole home
Moving out or clearing a family home. Every bed in the house in one booking, quoted as one job.

Why it’s a hassle
A mattress is hard to get rid of. Here’s what’s in the way.
It’s floppy, it’s heavy and it won’t fit in the car, and the rules about where it can go don’t make it any easier. These are the three things we hear about most.
It won't go quietly
A king mattress folds, sags and catches on every doorframe, and a box spring doesn't bend at all. Getting either one down a staircase takes two people, and getting it into a hatchback usually isn't possible.
It can't go in the trash
California runs its own mattress disposal and recycling program, and a mattress won't fit in your garbage cart anyway. Leaving one on the curb without a booked bulky-item pickup counts as illegal dumping in a lot of cities, too.
Free drop-off has limits
Bye Bye Mattress sites take mattresses for free, but most limit how many you can bring per visit, and they turn away mattresses that are wet, soiled or infested. You still need a truck, a second pair of hands and a free afternoon to get it there.
Doing it yourself?
Here’s how to dispose of a mattress in California on your own. If you’re buying a new one, the store that delivers it has to offer to take your old mattress back for free. Otherwise, Bye Bye Mattress drop-off sites around the Bay Area recycle clean, dry mattresses and box springs at no cost, usually with a limit per visit.
Most donation spots won’t take a used mattress, so recycling is usually the best route. If you’d rather skip the lifting and the drive, that’s exactly what we’re here for. Just give us a call.

Where it ends up
Mattress recycling in California, step by step.
Most of a mattress can be recycled once it’s taken apart. Here’s what happens to yours after it leaves the house.
Into the state program
Clean, dry mattresses and box springs go into California's Bye Bye Mattress program, which is paid for by a small recycling fee on every new mattress sold in the state.
Taken apart
At the recycler, each mattress is cut open and split into its parts: steel springs, foam, fiber and fabric, plus the wood from box spring frames.
Made into something new
The steel goes to scrap, foam can become carpet padding, and the wood is chipped for other uses. That's how most of a mattress stays out of the landfill.
Landfill only when needed
Mattresses that are wet, soiled or infested can't be recycled, so those go to landfill. It's the smallest part of the chain, and we like keeping it that way.
Let’s free up the bedroom.

Mattress removal FAQ
Quick questions, straight answers.
Recycling, drop-off sites, store take-back and what it costs. These are the questions people ask most before a mattress pickup.
It depends on how much room it takes up in our truck, not on how long it takes to carry out. A single mattress has its own rate, so it's never priced like a full load, and a box spring or frame just adds a little space. Tell us the size for a free quote, and the crew confirms the exact price on site before anything is lifted.
You've got a few options. The store delivering your new mattress has to offer to take the old one back for free. Bye Bye Mattress drop-off sites recycle clean, dry mattresses at no cost, usually with a limit per visit, and some cities include mattresses in their bulky-item pickup. If you'd rather not haul it or wait for a slot, we'll carry it out of the bedroom and take it to recycling for you.
Usually not. Most charity thrift stores won't take a used mattress, Habitat for Humanity's ReStores included, so recycling is the best route for most of them. A few local reuse programs accept clean, dry mattresses, so it's worth asking around if yours is nearly new.
Only if your city has a bulky-item pickup booked for it. Otherwise, a mattress on the curb counts as illegal dumping in a lot of Bay Area cities, and the fine goes to whoever set it out. A booked pickup, a drop-off site or a quick call to us keeps it simple.
Clean, dry mattresses and box springs go to recycling through California's mattress program, where they're taken apart for their steel, foam, fiber and wood. Mattresses that are wet, soiled or infested can't be recycled, so those go to landfill.
No. Leave it right where it is. Upstairs bedrooms, guest rooms and garages are all normal for us, and we'll carry it down and out for you. Taking the sheets off beforehand is the only prep that helps.
Yes. Mattresses, box springs, bed frames, headboards, futons and mattress toppers can all go in the same trip. Tell us what's coming when you book, so we can include it in your quote.
