Old chairs, a cooler, a tire and broken furniture piled in a backyard, ready for the Junk Magik crew to haul away
Our main service

Bay Area Junk Removal. Same-Day Junk Hauling.

One stubborn couch or a whole property. Most of it is heavier and bulkier than it looks, so we carry it out from wherever it sits, load it, and do the sorting on our end. You don’t bag it, drag it to the curb or separate a thing first. Same-day and next-day pickups run from the East Bay and Tri-Valley to the Peninsula, the South Bay and beyond.

Reading that we carry it out from wherever it sits is one thing. Watching it happen is another. Ordinary jobs, filmed end to end. Nothing is staged, and we don’t cut away from the hard part.

How it works

Junk removal in 3 easy steps, from first photo to swept floor.

  1. Tell us what you've got

Give us a call, or send a few photos through the form. A couch, a garage, a whole floor of an office: a rough description is plenty, and a blurry photo still tells us what we need. We've seen the garage before, we promise.

    Takes about a minute

  2. Get your free quote

A number over the phone or online, based on the space your load takes up in the truck rather than the hours it takes us. The crew confirms it on site before anything gets lifted, so nothing lands on you at the end.

    Free, online or by phone

  3. We make it vanish

Upstairs, backyard, behind the shed. However heavy or awkward it is, we carry it out from wherever it sits, load it, sweep up after ourselves and go. You don't lift a thing, and you don't sort it first.

    Swept before we leave

Why Junk Magik

You pick what stays. We handle everything else.

Junk Magik is a family owned and operated crew, and junk hauling is the whole of what we do. A job that would eat your weekend, with a couple of dump runs and plenty of heavy carrying, is a normal morning for us, and we do it all over the East Bay, the Tri-Valley, the Peninsula, the South Bay and well beyond. We price by the space your load takes up in the truck rather than by the hour, so a long driveway or an awkward staircase is our problem and not your bill. One mattress or a whole garage, it’s the same truck and the same welcome.

  • Licensed and insured, every single job
  • Same-day and next-day junk removal, slots permitting
  • You don't lift a thing, and you don't sort it first
  • Free quotes online or over the phone
  • Priced by the space it takes, never by the clock

How pricing works

Priced by the space it takes, not by the clock.

We charge for the space your load takes up in the truck, not for how long we’re there. That matters more than it sounds, because the clock is the thing that actually worries people: a tricky staircase, a long carry from the back garden, a bill quietly growing while you watch it. Priced by volume, none of that is yours to think about.

Single items have their own rates too, so one mattress or one couch is a real job here and never an awkward phone call. Quotes are free, online or over the phone. Tell us roughly which of these you’re looking at and we’ll give you a number. The crew confirms the exact price once they can see what’s there, before anything goes on the truck.

  • One item

A couch that won't go down the stairs. A refrigerator. The mattress blocking the hallway, or the treadmill nobody has touched in years. Single items are a real part of our week, and nothing is too small to call about.

  • A room

A bedroom set, an office clear-out, or the corner of the garage you've been walking around for a year.

  • A garage

Floor to rafters, including the shelf you can't reach. Doing it yourself usually means a lost weekend, a borrowed pickup and several dump runs. Most of our week looks like this one.

  • A whole property

A move-out, an estate cleanout, a unit turnover or a full tear-out. More than one trip, and still quoted as one job.

What counts as junk

Almost nothing starts out as junk. Three things make it.

Everything in the truck was useful once. What turns a thing into junk is almost never the thing itself. It’s that getting rid of it stopped being simple. These are the three ways that happens, and between them they explain why junk removal is a trade at all.

  1. It outgrew the bin

Your curbside cart tops out at whatever one person can wheel to the curb. A sectional, a chest freezer, a hot tub, a dining set, a driveway of fence panels. All of it is past that line the moment it stops being furniture and starts being a problem. There's no bin size that fixes a garage.

  2. The city won't take it

Most Bay Area cities run a bulky-item pickup, Hayward included, and nearly all of them cap how many items you get, how often you get them, and what counts. Anything mixed, anything from a contractor, anything over the cap waits, and the wait can run weeks. Plenty of our week is one mattress for somebody who'd rather not wait that long, and that's a perfectly good reason to call.

  3. It's banned from the landfill

California keeps whole categories out of the mixed stream by law. TVs, monitors and computers fall under the state's e-waste rules, mattresses have a recycling program of their own, and anything holding refrigerant, like a fridge, a freezer or an air conditioner, can't ride in a general load at all. A truck carrying the wrong thing gets turned away at the gate, which is why the sorting is a job and not an afterthought.

And what we can’t

A few things count as hazardous and can’t legally ride in a general hauler’s load. Not sure whether something qualifies? Give us a call and we’ll tell you straight away. Better you hear it now than in the driveway.

Every Bay Area county runs a household hazardous waste drop-off, and most take this free from residents. Tell us what you’ve got and we’ll point you at the nearest one.

Where it actually goes

The load gets sorted after we leave.

“We recycle” is the easiest sentence in this industry to write and the hardest to mean. So here’s what actually happens to your junk after the truck pulls away: the order a Junk Magik load moves through, and what has to come out at each step for the next one to be possible.

  1. Reuse first

Furniture, appliances and household goods with life left in them go to a reuse partner before anything else gets decided. Most loads have more of this in them than the person who called expected, which is always a nice thing to report back.

  2. Then recycling

TVs, monitors and computers go to certified e-waste recycling, metal goes to scrap, and mattresses go into California's statewide recycling program, where most of them come apart for materials instead of being buried.

  3. Green waste separately

Branches, brush, sod and leaves come out of the mixed load so they can be composted. Left in with everything else, the whole lot is just landfill with a yard-trimmings problem.

  4. Landfill last

What's left is what genuinely had nowhere better to be. That's the part we're trying to make smaller, and it's the only honest measure of whether any of the above is real.

Let’s get it booked.

Questions, answered

What people want to know before they book.

What junk removal costs, what we’ll take, whether you need to be home, whether you have to sort it first. These are the things people ask us before the truck is booked, answered plainly, including the answers that cost us money.

  • We price by the space your load takes up in the truck rather than by the hour, so the clock never works against you. A long carry or a tricky staircase is our problem, not something you pay extra for. Single items have their own rates. Tell us roughly what's there and you'll get a free quote on the phone or online, and the crew confirms the exact price on site before anything goes on the truck.

  • The carrying, the loading, the disposal fees at the other end, and the sweep-up after. There's no separate charge for stairs, distance or awkward access, and nothing gets added once the crew has confirmed the price with you. What you agree to in the driveway is what you pay.

  • Honestly? If an item still works and you have a way to move it, donating it is free, and your city's bulky-item pickup will take a limited number of things at no cost if you can wait for a slot. Where a hauler earns its money is everything those two can't do: mixed loads, anything over the cap, contractor debris, items nobody can lift alone, and needing it gone this week rather than next month. Happy to tell you which one you actually need; we'd rather point you at the free option than take a job you didn't need us for.

  • A few things count as hazardous and can't legally ride in a general hauler's load. Not sure whether something qualifies? Give us a call and we'll tell you straight away. Better you hear it now than in the driveway. Every Bay Area county runs a household hazardous waste drop-off, and most take this free from residents. Tell us what you've got and we'll point you at the nearest one.

  • Not always. If everything is outside and we can reach it, plenty of jobs get done while you're at work, and we'll send photos when it's clear. If the items are inside, or there's any chance of a what-stays-and-what-goes question, it's much easier with someone there. Either way we'll talk it through when you book.

  • No, and please don't. Leave it exactly where it sits. Point at what's going, tell us what's staying, and we'll do the rest. The sorting happens on our end after the truck leaves, so reuse, recycling and green waste get separated without any of it landing on you.
