Bay Area Appliance Removal. Same-Day Fridge Pickup.

The fridge that finally gave out, the washer and dryer from the remodel, the water heater in the garage. Appliances like these are among the heaviest things in a home, and a tough carry for anyone. Our appliance removal crew carries them out from wherever they sit, and anything holding refrigerant goes where it can be recovered properly. Same-day and next-day pickups cover the East Bay, the Tri-Valley, the Peninsula, the South Bay and the towns around them.

How it works

Appliance removal in 3 easy steps, from one call to an empty corner.

  1. Tell us what it is

Give us a call, or snap a photo through the form. “Old fridge in the garage” or “washer and dryer, second floor” is plenty. The make and model don't matter to us.

    A minute or two

  2. Get a free quote

Single appliances have their own rate, and bigger loads are priced by the room they take up in the truck, never by the clock. The quote costs nothing, and the crew confirms the exact price on site before anything moves.

    Free, online or by phone

  3. Out the door, onto the truck

Kitchen, laundry room, basement or garage, we'll work it out of the tight spot, down any stairs and onto the truck. Fridges and freezers stay out of the mixed load, so their refrigerant can be recovered properly.

    Nothing for you to lift

Why people call us

Our team carries it. Your back stays out of it.

We’re a family owned and operated crew, and appliances are some of the heaviest, bulkiest things we carry: a full-size fridge, a stacked washer and dryer, a water heater wedged into a closet. A job that would take you a rented trailer and a long afternoon is everyday work for us. Refrigerator removal, washer dryer removal and stove disposal are what we do, and because we price by space in the truck, a tight laundry room never adds to your bill.

  • Licensed and insured on every appliance pickup
  • Same-day pickups when the schedule allows
  • Carried out from kitchens, garages and basements
  • Fridges and freezers kept out of the mixed load
  • Working appliances go to a reuse partner first

What it costs

Priced by the load, never by the hour.

Appliance removal is priced by how much room your appliances take up in our truck, not by how long they take to move. A fridge from a third-floor apartment costs the same to haul as the same fridge from a garage. The stairs are our problem, not your bill. A compact fridge takes less room than a side-by-side, and the quote follows the space.

Single appliances have their own rates, so one washer is never priced like a full load. Getting a quote costs nothing, online or by phone. Tell us what’s going and we’ll give you a number, and the crew confirms the exact price once they’ve seen it, before anything is lifted.

  • One appliance

The old fridge in the garage, a dryer that stopped heating, or the microwave from a kitchen refresh. A single appliance is still a heavy carry, and a real job here, with its own rate.

  • A washer and dryer pair

The set that comes out the day the new one arrives, from the laundry room, the garage or a closet upstairs. That's two bulky units through a narrow doorway, and we take both.

  • A kitchen's worth

Fridge, range, dishwasher and microwave from a remodel, picked up together in one trip, so nobody is wrestling a range across the new floors.

  • A whole home

Moving out or clearing a family home. Every appliance in the house in one booking, quoted as one job.

Why it’s tricky

Old appliances don’t just leave. Three things in the way.

The new one is on its way, the old one is still plugged in, and nobody’s quite sure what’s allowed. Appliances are harder to get rid of than almost anything else in the house, for three reasons.

  1. They're built heavy

A full-size fridge, a front-load washer or a 50-gallon water heater is far more than most people can safely carry down a flight of stairs, and one slip can take a chunk out of a wall or a floor on the way. They're awkward too, with nothing good to hold on to.

  2. They can't go in the trash

California treats major appliances differently from everyday junk. Before a fridge, freezer or air conditioner is scrapped, a certified technician has to recover its refrigerant, and parts like mercury switches and certain capacitors have to come out first. That's why an old fridge can't simply ride along in a general load.

  3. They're still hooked up

Gas dryers, gas ranges and water heaters connect to gas or water lines, and some appliances are wired straight into the wall. Those need disconnecting safely before anything moves. Just tell us what's there when you book, and we'll let you know what needs doing beforehand.

Still works?

Here’s where to donate appliances in the Bay Area if yours still runs well. Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores take refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and water heaters in perfect working order. They need to be clean, undamaged and preferably under seven years old, and you can book a donation pickup with them online.

Neighborhood Buy Nothing groups move working appliances quickly too. If yours doesn’t qualify, or you’d rather not deal with it, that’s exactly what we’re here for. Just give us a call.

After it leaves

Disposing of a fridge the right way.

Here’s how to dispose of a refrigerator in California, and what happens to a washer or water heater too. Appliances don’t go to landfill whole. This is the order they move through once they leave your home.

  1. Working ones get reused

An appliance that still runs well goes to a reuse partner first, because a working fridge is worth more in someone's kitchen than in a scrap yard.

  2. Refrigerant comes out

Fridges, freezers and AC units go where a certified technician recovers the refrigerant and drains the compressor oil before anything else happens to them.

  3. Special parts removed

Mercury switches and certain capacitors in older units come out next. California requires it before any major appliance is crushed or shredded.

  4. Metal gets recycled

What's left is mostly steel, copper and aluminum, and it goes to scrap to be melted down and used again. Very little of an old appliance ever needs burying.

Appliance removal FAQ

Before you book, the answers up front.

Disconnecting, refrigerant, donating and what it costs. These are the questions people ask most before an appliance pickup.

  • It depends on how much room the appliance takes up in our truck, not on how long it takes to move. Single appliances have their own rates, so one fridge or one washer is never priced like a full load. Tell us what it is on the phone or through the form for a free quote, and the crew confirms the exact price once they've seen it, before anything is lifted.

  • For most appliances, unplugging is enough. Washers and dishwashers also connect to water lines. Anything on a gas line or wired straight into the wall, like a gas dryer, gas range or water heater, needs to be disconnected safely before it can move. Just tell us what's there when you book, and we'll let you know what needs doing beforehand.

  • A fridge never rides in a mixed load. Working ones go to a reuse partner first. The rest go where a certified technician recovers the refrigerant and drains the oil, as California requires, before the steel, copper and aluminum are recycled.

  • No. California requires refrigerant and a few other parts to come out of major appliances before they're scrapped or disposed of, so they can't go out with regular garbage. Leaving one at the curb without a booked bulky-item pickup counts as illegal dumping in a lot of cities, too. Many cities do run bulky pickups that take appliances by appointment, usually with limits on how many and how often. If you'd rather not wait for a slot, that's what we're here for.

  • Habitat for Humanity's ReStores take refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves and water heaters in perfect working order. They should be clean, undamaged and preferably under seven years old, and you can book a donation pickup with them online. Buy Nothing groups are a quick option too. If yours doesn't qualify, or you'd rather not haul it yourself, we'll take it and send it to a reuse partner if it still works.

  • Yes, please empty it, and if you can, unplug it the day before so the freezer has time to defrost. That keeps water off your floors on the way out. A washer goes out easier once it's drained, too. That's all the prep there is; the carrying is on us.

  • Yes. Microwaves, mini fridges, window AC units, dehumidifiers and the like all come along, on their own or with a bigger pickup. TVs and computers count as e-waste, which goes to its own recycler.
